Gas on a pair of sweatpants?

I spilled some gas on a pair of sweatpants last week, and I'm wondering if it's OK to run them through the wash?? It says don't put clothes that are dampened with gas. should I be able to wash them, or should I just toss them? Obviously they're dry, but they still smell of gas.
