Do the Japanese scenes in Kill Bill have subtitles?

I was watching Kill Bill vol. 1, and during a scene, the characters started speaking Japanese without subtitles. At first I thought this was natural, as I can see Tarantino doing something like that. But then I begin to wonder if I had a bad copy. So which is it? Should there be subtitles, or none?
