Is it a Sin to do that?

Is it a sin if a person m@$turbates? I feel so shame or guilty for doing it but at times I really don't want to do it. I have this urge that comes over me that is hard to resist. Do Christian people or supposed to be Christians sin too? If so, have any of them had any irresistable urges like mine? I feel so bad right now.
