Why do cats not develop neurotic patterns?

I have to agree with the majority, cats are the only domesticated (up to a point) animal that I would consider neurotic. IMO, dogs are the epitome of a pure soul. They give total unconditional love and truly live only in the moment. There's an old adage 'I wish I was the person my dog thinks I am.' That's exactly how my two little faithful companions make me feel.
