i'm self-teaching myself to speak italian? And i'm having trouble..?

Listen to Kelly, she's totally right; however, it's perfectly possible finding words with "glia" and "glio", such as "aglio" (garlic) or "chiglia" (keel of a boat), and even (not often) "gliu", ("pagliuzza", wisp of straw) .
